6.1 Wheel & Tyre

6.1.1 Location & Components

6.1.2 Tyre Markings

Please follow tyre markings for size, fitment direction and model when replacing tyres to make sure they securely fit onto the tyre and do not rub or contact other vehicle components.

Attention

It is advised to wear adequate PPE such as gloves and eye protection when removing components and using machinery.


6.1.5 Replacement Instructions

Identify the tyre requiring replacement

  • Crack off the wheel nuts before jacking up the vehicle.

Jack up the vehicle

  • Depending on the location of the tyre being replaced, use a jack positioned at the appropriate jack point on the main chassis.
  • Ensure the jack is placed correctly to avoid damaging sub-frame components.

Warning

Vehicle Tipping Over - Do not jack up the vehicle higher than 5cm from point of contact on chassis. Doing so could offset the balance and lead to the vehicle tipping over.

Remove the wheel

  • Undo the wheel nuts completely and set aside.
  • Slide the wheel off the hub studs carefully.

Replace the tyre

  • Using a tyre machine, remove the old tyre from the wheel rim and replace with a new tyre.
  • If no tyre machine is available, fit a new wheel rim and tyre assembly.
  • Inflate the tyre to 38psi using a tyre inflator.

Reinstall the wheel

  • Slide the wheel back onto the hub studs.
  • Ensure the wheel is flush against the hub.
  • Screw the wheel nuts on by hand to avoid cross-threading and tighten.

Lower the vehicle

  • Lower the vehicle in a controlled manner using the jack.
  • Torque the hub nuts to 105Nm in a cross pattern.

Final checks and reference

  • Confirm wheel is properly seated and torqued.
