4. Functional Description
Minimal's Pedal 4 is a four wheeled electric-assisted vehicle (E-quadricycle) designed for urban logistics and last-mile delivery applications. It combines compact dimensions with functional performance to provide a practical and sustainable transport solution.
The vehicle is equipped with two 250W continuous-rated electric motors mounted at the rear axle and features pedal-assist capability, achieving a maximum speed of 15.5 mph (25 kph) in compliance with EAPC (Electrically Assisted Pedal Cycle) classification.
The Pedal 4 operates using two 48V swappable lithium iron phosphate battery, allowing for extended range and minimal downtime during operations. Conservatively, range is estimated at 60km from full charge to empty using two batteries
Designed for load-bearing utility, the Pedal 4 can be laden up to 350kg (including driver weight), making it a robust and agile alternative to traditional delivery vans.
Note
Further details on the EAPC classification can be found on the UK government website: EAPC Information Sheet
4.1 Intended Use
The primary use case for the Pedal 4 is urban logistics and last mile deliveries, predominately in urban or semi-urban environments. The vehicle has been designed to navigate congested city streets, bike lanes and pedestrianized areas where vans and other vehicles may be restricted.
Compliant with the EPAC (Electrically Power-Assisted Cycles) EN15194 standard, this e-powered cargo bicycle is classified as an electrically assisted bicycle under EU law. It functions much like a conventional bicycle, using pedals and handlebars in the same familiar way.
Caution
Misusing the Pedal 4 in dense pedestrian areas may result in minor to moderate pedestrian injury. Please respect and pay attention to other road users & never ride on the pavement always on a marked and dedicated road way.
